Exercise Therapy Toronto

I had the pleasure of working alongside Dr. Hilary Chambers (ND, HBSC, Doula) for a couple of years while I worked as an RMT and Medical Acupuncture Practitioner at Royal York Massage and Osteopathy.

I’ve since referred several of my clients to Dr. Chambers. Her perspective and expertise have proven very helpful in getting results for my personal training clients. She reinforces positive lifestyle habits that have helped with clients’ weight loss. Among other things, Hilary also digs deep into the root cause of clients’ ailments and creates a plan of action that goes beyond my scope of practice (i.e. blood work, nutrient deficiency, etc.)

Exerpts from Dr. Chambers’ website:

“Dr. Chambers has a special focus in autoimmune conditions, digestive health, and pregnancy care. She commonly treats thyroid conditions, weight loss, psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, digestive concerns (IBS, IBD), and anxiety.”

“Dr. Chambers is a member of the OAND, CAND, and CONO. She has special training in pregnancy, labour, and delivery as a certified Naturopathic Doula. Dr. Chambers also as a strong interest in healthy aging, and is qualified in Cosmetic Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture. She also licensed to practice intravenous (IV) therapy and vitamin injections in her practice.”

As an experienced personal trainer that has seen the life changing effects healthy nutrition and lifestyle have had on myself and my clients, it is important that the health professionals I collaborate with share the same passion and evidence based approach in addressing clients’ health. Hilary goes into detail with every client about lifestyle factors, eating habits, and other factors, such as nutrient deficiencies, that may be impacting the overall health, mood, and energy level of the client. She refers clients for relevant blood work to determine possible deficiencies and then comes up with a nutrition and supplement plan to help the client improve their health.

As much as I know about health and nutrition, the services and testing that Hilary provides go beyond my scope of practice. She goes into details (such as lifestyle factors and nutrition) that most medical doctors don’t get into. As such, she is an indispensable part of a complete team of health professionals that will address your individual health needs. Medical doctors, surgeons, Naturopathic doctors, personal trainers, RMTs, etc. all provide specific services that are valuable to individual health. MDs will provide diagnosis, medication, and referral to specialists, NDs (such as Dr. Chambers) will provide an in depth look into nutrition, supplementation, and lifestyle factors to improve individual health, and someone like myself (RMT, medical acupuncture practitioner, and personal trainer) will assess movement, pain symptoms and physical causes (muscular, bone, nerve, other soft tissue) and come up with a treatment and exercise plan to address mechanical issues and pain symptoms in the body.

Some of the most important factors that influence my decision in sending my clients to Hilary is her level of competence, care, and professionalism in her line of work. She also has two offices -  both conveniently located. One in Etobicoke (in my area), and the other in the heart of the city (convenient for clients that either work or live closer to the city centre). Check out her website at for more information and to schedule an appointment.

All the best,
